“Corpo líquido e plástico”

Body is environment, it is nature. All the materials in the environment pass through the body, are fluid, pass through it as it traverses the world, being the world, joining the threads that weave it and mixing in them.

"Corpo líquido e plástico" (liquid and plastic body) it’s an umbrella title for a series of open-ended works on the climate crisis, examining power relations and hierarchies between human beings and non-humans, questioning the dominant anthropocentric paradigm that separates humans from the rest of nature and delving into the dynamics of nature-as-other, otherness and the intricate interplay on the perceptual boundaries between interior and exterior.

Festival Jardins Abertos, Estufa Fria, Lisbon, PT 2022

The live performance takes place in Estufa Fria (Cold Greenhouse) whose grounds used to house a basalt extraction quarry. This historical background of extractivism, the colonial legacy of collecting and exhibiting 'exotic' plants, juxtaposed with the current role of the greenhouse as a 'green refuge' in Lisbon's city center, alongside its wooden lath roofing that blurs the boundaries between inside and outside, provide a complex context to further explore the climate crisis-related issues that are developed in various cycles of the project.

The performance weaves together live music creation, videos used in previous cycles and new ones produced on site, in an audiovisual dialogue produced and manipulated in real-time during a live stream. The audience is invited to engage in this accumulation of layers by connecting on mobile devices to the live stream while walking through the Estufa Fria and choosing how to interact with the audiovisual media, the performers and the space.

A-con-tecer: In Portuguese acontecer means to happen, to become.

When hyphenated
“a-” means “to”,
“-con-” means “with”, “together”,
“-tecer” means “weaving”.
acontecer comes from the latin CONTINGERE where
“CON-” means “with”
TINGERE is to touch, to reach, to join with, to move

a-con-tecer is to-weave-with, co-weaving, co-happening, co-becoming in movement, entangled.

“Dança sobre a arquitectura” sound art & dance performance

The fascination with the sounds that arise from the movements of the dancers in dance shows - the steps, the falls, the friction on the floor - shaped by the acoustic character of the room, the stage, the objects, was what gave shape to the project. It searches the possibility of creating a dance about architecture, through a choreography that makes us listen to the space, through the interaction of the performers with it. This is the metaphor of the project: a dance whose object is space.
